Charlotte Grant is a proud South Aussie soccer athlete, representing our great nation on the international stage!

The 21 year old plays as defender for Vittsjö GIK in the Damallsvenskan and for Australia internationally.

Charlotte Grant began her football journey in South Australia, the only current member of the Matildas squad to hail from the state. Her talent first caught the attention of the Cumberland United Women’s Football club where she played as a junior before being asked to join the National Training Centre Program from 2014 - 2018. This South Australian program helped Grant develop further skills, increasing her chances of making the national team. Whilst representing Football SA, Grant won both Player of the Year and Female Rising Star in 2018. Her strength as an attacking midfielder saw her name being shared with Australia’s highest level state league.

After Grant’s successful season in the Women’s National Premier League, she signed her first professional contract with home club, Adelaide United at only 17. Her determination at such a young age led her to her position in the Young Matildas team the following year (2019).

Her debut game for the Young Matildas did not disappoint; she played the full 90 minute game in a clash against Mongolia, naming her the 2018/19 W-League Rising Star of the squad.

To work on reaching her goal of breaking into the starting line-up, Grant spent her off-season in Sydney, training in the Future Matilda’s program with Australian soccer coach and former player, Leah Blayney. The young star’s expertise shone through, landing her the opportunity to play for overseas clubs. Grant eventually signed for Swedish side, FC Rosengård.

After establishing many connections with teammates on and off the field, Grant received the call she had been waiting for from Matildas head coach, Tony Gustavsson. In June 2021, that is when she debuted for the senior team, where she continuously amazes football fans with how far she has come.

When she isn’t out on the field Grant enjoys spending time with her friends and family, whether that's grabbing brunch or shopping! The young star loves giving us an insight into her relationship with her team through TikTok videos.

Grant continues to make us South Aussies proud with her contagious smile and huge commitment to the sport! Her passion inspires many young women out there to chase their dreams.
